Fired by Bezos for a Cached SQL Error

I was working for Amazon corporate in this pretty cool tech-lifestyle office, probably in Seattle or SF. A few of my friends and old PIMCO coworkers worked there too, like Seth and Neil from SF, Trushar. I had a meeting with Bezos, presumably a performance review, who had a note of me in his notebook that said “perfectly adequate.” Trushar came in and looked mad. He asked me some trap questions that got me to admit I ran some SQL query that changed a number and when I changed it back, it stayed cached and was causing a macro to run incorrectly for 45 days or so and lost us a lot of money over that time. I admitted to it and he fired me there on the spot, “well enough is enough, today is your last day, pack up your things and leave” he said. It was sad but I understood and wasn’t that upset to lose this job. I made sure to go up to each of my coworker friends and hug them on the way out. Made a real scene for being so nice.
